Wild clay course
A four-part journey into the world beneath our feet. This course is an in-depth exploration of wild clay—from foraging and testing, to creating your own handbuilt pieces using earth you've gathered yourself.
We’ll begin in the woods, where you’ll learn how to identify and collect raw clay. You’ll test it in its natural setting and share food around the fire. From there, we move into the studio to process what we’ve found, experiment with different clay mixes, and craft meaningful, personal work.
This course is as much about process as it is about product. Foraged clay can be unpredictable—part of the beauty is learning through trial, error, and experimentation. Alongside wild clay, you’ll also have access to commercial clays, including porcelain, to support your exploration.
What’s included:
– 16 hours of tuition in a small group (max 5 people)
– 4 hours in the woods + 12 hours in the studio
– All tools and materials for foraging, processing, and making
– Unlimited firing
– Access to a range of clays, including porcelain
– Vegan lunch cooked over the fire on our woodland day
This course is open to all—whether you’re completely new to clay or want to deepen your connection to natural materials.
Expect muddy hands, full hearts, and a new appreciation for the ground beneath you.
